The Carleton Chronicle
A weekly update from Carleton Middle School
Thank you Mothers, Nurses, Bus Drivers, and Teachers
I wanted to take a moment to wish all of the mothers, grandmothers, mother-in-laws, aunts, big sisters, and motherly figures a Happy Mother's Day. Mothers hold a special place in all of our hearts due to their gentle guidance, motherly instinct, and constant wisdom. We hope you all enjoy your weekend and have an opportunity to be spoiled for one day.
This week, on May 9th, we also celebrated National School Nurse Day and were able to provide Nurse Julia and Nurse Ann with a small gift from our staff and a staff luncheon. These two small acts of kindness do not come close to the incredible work that they do for our students, staff, and families to keep everyone safe, healthy, and able to fully function. They are invaluable to Warren Consolidated Schools and Carleton Middle School.
On Monday, we were able to celebrate our Bus Drivers with a light breakfast that was delivered to the transportation garage. Our drivers do such a great job being patient with adolescent behaviors (at times), managing traffic, and often running multiple routes in a day or week due to a severe shortage in drivers. The amazing thing? They always have a smile on their face, wave to staff members, and politely greet our students as they enter the bus.
Lastly, I want to thank our teachers for the countless acts of service and sacrifice that they consistently provide our students and each other. Today alone, I had asked 12 teachers to sub on their prep period which doesn't allow them to do things like lesson plan, grade papers, input grades, use the restroom, check email, respond to parent phones, and the list could go on and on. Every single one of them said they would help out, grabbed the green slip of paper I handed them with a smile, and one even mentioned what a great opportunity it was to connect with students that were unfamiliar to them. Simply put, our teachers (or educational rock stars) are amazing. I challenge any of you to find a more demanding yet rewarding profession that positively impacts so many young people.
Thank you!
Thank you to Student Council and our Booster organization for providing lunches for our staff this week. We jokingly were talking about how we should have a pre and post "teacher weigh-in" during this week due to the excessive carb loading and consuming of sugary treats. In short, the extra lbs, were worth it. Thank you so much for the goodies and being spoiled for a few days.

Pictures
The pictures of student artwork were from our Festival of the Arts celebration that took place at the Sterling Heights Senior Center. The warmth in the room wasn't only the temperature as we celebrated the incredible creativity and problem solving skills that our artists exhibit.
Our Ecology Club was also able to recently clean up our courtyards within our school grounds. They weeded, raked, and planted in order to beautify our school and provide some lovely scenery for our students. Thank you Ms. Lipe, Gjelaj, and Ms. Tymoszek for organizing such a great opportunity for our students.
Our track team lost a close race to Roseville Middle School this week but many students' times were better and we had a few PRs (Personal Records) that students were proud of achieving. The weather was beautiful and it was great to see so many students cheering one another on during the races.
