PANTHER PROGRESS
September 2023 Issue 2
Message from administration
Lincoln Family –
As we return from a 3-day weekend and begin our ninth day of school, Mrs. Smith and I had the opportUNITY to spend time in each of our 27 classes to discuss the pride of our Lincoln History as we celebrate our 100th year as a LINCOLN FAMILY and HONOR HISTORY. Each student received a “Panther Power Bracelet” to reinforce this messaging. We also discussed with over 500 students how their teacher will do whatever it takes to grow them both socially and academically, while ensuring that each student meets their grade level expectations and can apply those skills independently. As many of you know, Lincoln has a mantra where we “Win small. Win often. All day. Every day,” but growth is not enough. We need students to be proficient at their grade level expectations. We emphasized that it’s not only the teachers’ job, but it’s also the expectation of your child to put forth the effort, have a growth mindset, and celebrate their accomplishments as they MAKE HISTORY by having the best school year yet! As always, your efforts as a parent/guardian have a direct correlation to student achievement. Be on the lookout this week as teachers begin sending home the weekly Lincoln Learner Report which provides insight on how your child with doing with their grade level curriculum and their habits of learning. Your partnership with this work is everything; a reason that the only difference between “parent” and “partner” is one letter… “R” you ready?
Lastly, we talked with the students about the FCPS Student Code of Conduct and what that looks like at Lincoln Elementary School. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to review it:
Lincoln defines the Code of Conduct as “The words we use to describe what we SAY and DO to be a leader in our lives, our learning, and our commUNITY. Should we say it? Should I do it? Will it HURT or HELP?” At Lincoln, we HELP. Lincoln life lessons.
Together as a LINCOLN FAMILY, we will HONOR HISTORY and MAKE HISTORY.
In your service,
Eric Rhodes - Principal
Mary Beth Smith - Assistant Principal

School Safety
Keeping our Panthers safe is our first priority. Throughout the year, we'll be practicing a variety of drills to make sure our students know what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency. We conducted our first fire drill this week and were so proud of how quickly all our Panthers evacuated the building! The first week of October is our School Safety Week, where we'll conduct a new drill each day. Please let us know if you have any questions about this as we prioritize student safety.
