16-17 Sawnee Tech News Vol. 10
I speak for the trees...
For end of year memory projects, consider assigning digital versions vs. printed. Tech4Learning has great ideas for Digital Storytelling. Tech4Learning pushes using Wixie or Frames, but we have other tools available for kids to use. Students can use familiar tools such as: Google Slides, Wixie, Movie Maker, or you may want to try out FlipSnackedu. All great digital stories start with a well-planned script! If you're interested in one of these lessons for your class, you would help students finalize the script and I would come in to assist students with the technical aspects of the project. One idea is to create docudramas from the POV of different types of punctuation. Each punctuation mark could explain how they're misunderstood and how they should really be used to have the greatest impact. Let me know if you're interested in adapting any of the ideas mentioned in the article!
Scratch Art in Wixie
Teachers can assign scratch art templates for word-building or de-stressing activities. Adult coloring, anyone? Go to the Activities tab > Curriculum Library > Templates > Scratch Art. From there, open the ones you like and use the Actions tab to assign them to your students. Students will use the Eraser tool on the Paint panel in place of any of the writing/drawing tools.
Chromebook Deal for Staff and Students
As you know, we will receive 10 chromebooks per classroom next year from the district. The district has extended the discounted price of $177 to students and staff! You may share this information with your class and is posted to our homepage as well. Click here for details and ordering instructions.
