Third Grade in the News!
March 23rd - March 27th
What We Are Learning This Week
Language Arts with Mrs. Trueblood: We will be summarizing and recognizing the best summary of a reading passage. We will be looking at the characteristics of a news article - and preparing to write our own. Please have your child read for at least 30 minutes per day.
Science with Mrs. Naragon: This week, we will investigate and compare how animals and plants undergo a series of orderly changes in their diverse life cycles such as tomato plants, frogs, and lady bugs.
Social Studies with Mrs. Naragon: We will continue working on our Regions of the United States brochures. Please visit my website for more information, the rubric and a copy of the notes page. Your child will have Monday and Tuesday in class to work on this project and the rest will be for homework. The brochure is due on Thursday, March 26th.
Math with Mrs. Moore: Next week we will continue working with fractions. First, we will take a closer look at denominators and how to compare fractions with the same denominator. Next, we will look at numerators and how to compare fractions with the same numerator but different denominators. To begin this week your student should have a comfortable grasp with the following concepts:
- numerator- names the part
- denominator - names the whole
- equal parts- all parts are the same size
- how to share equally (equal shares)
- fractions on a number line
