START WITH HELLO - Sandy Hook Promise Week in our Coventry schools
Below is a potential list of activities that many of our Coventry Schools will do during that week. Some of you are doing different things w/in your homerooms, too. I appreciate your willingness and individual ideas!
Overview of activities:
Monday: 20 Minute K-2 and 3-5 Assemblies, Start With Hello video presentation & Overview; 'Hello, my name is' stickers will be provided for everyone to wear. We will also recognize our *Summer Reading Challenge participants and school winner(s) at this time.
Tuesday: Students will make 'Start With Hello' Posters to put outside their classrooms (Beginning or end of day); posters will be up for all to see by Wednesday morning.
Wednesday: Start with Hello creative writing with cross-grade level buddies. Presentations to each other, peer to peer. (Essay, poem, songs, raps, letters or skits or any other acceptable format will be fine). If you need assistance finding a cross-grade level partner classroom let me know.
Thursday: 'Start with Hello' Compliment Day. Make a compliment chain (paper) for all the compliments given to others to hang around the school. We can put some chains up in hallways and within classroom and office areas.
Friday: 'Start with Hello' Tiogue Spirit Day - wear green and/or wear your Tiogue gear- Get Caught Saying Hello Day. Give Brave Bucks and/or stickers to students who get caught saying Hello...especially to those students and to those adults that they may not know. Like the philosophy of a "mix-it-up" lunch. We could incorporate this as well as part of the day.

RIDE and OSHA require all teachers to complete a Universal precaution (required), and Epi Pen (not required, but encouraged) training yearly. I will be reviewing both of these at our orientation.
For Universal Precautions:
Here is the training on RIDE where you can read through and print a certificate of completion. This is REQUIRED bloodborne pathogens training. Please sign the certificate of completion and turn it into me. I am required to keep a record of completion.
