What can happen to me?
Unprotected Sex, most of the time, has two outcomes. These are Diseases and Pregnancy. Both of these can change not only your life, but everyones life around you.
STIs and Pregnancy
Sex without protection will increase your odds of getting pregnant or contracting an STI.
In England, people aged 16-24 are responsible for:
- 63% of chlamydia
- 54% of genital warts
- 47% of gonorrhoea
- 41% of herpes
- 16% of syphilis
In the UK the amount of teenage pregnancies have fallen, but not in every region some areas have increased.
"The Age of Consent" and the law.
This is the age which you can have sex at 'legally'.
In the UK you have to be 16 or older to have any type of sex whether it be homosexual or heterosexual. Having sex under this age is a criminal offence.
A boy who has sex with a girl under 16 is breaking the law. Even if she agrees with it.
If she is 13-15, the boy could go to prison for two years.
If she is under 13 he could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
A girl age 16 or over who has sex with a boy under 16 can be jailed for indecent assault.
