Rachel Carson was born May 27, 1907 in Springdale, Pennsylvania. She grew up on a large farm so she got a fond interest in animals. She wrote and published her first book in a magazine when she was ten!
Studies
Rachel Carson studied to be a marine biologist, and environmentalist. She also was a writer who told the world the environmental effects of fertilizers and pesticides.
Work
Rachel Carson got a career in teaching. After teaching, she got a job in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. She had to go to the upper coast regions and Chesapeake bay.

Rachel Carson warned us about fertilizers and pesticides. She told us that they can kill more than bugs. Some fertilizers and pesticides can kill birds. If she never discovered that the birds and small mammals would die because of pesticides and fertilizers.
