April 19-23, 2021 - Principal Lunde's Weekly Update

UELF Hybrid Learning Is Here
We are excited to have ALL of the UELF Students on campus this week. Please remember the following:
1) Parents complete the CrisisGo Survey for each child attending school. This is completed EVERY school day!
2) Students bring their badge. (If the badge was not picked up, then you will see a table to send the student. If the badge is lost or forgotten, then the student checks in with Ms. Alicia. Parents can print out a student badge each day if that is easier too.)
3) AM Cohort drop off begins at 8:05am since classrooms open at 8:10am; PM Cohort drop off begins at 12:20pm since classrooms open at 12:30pm. (Please refrain from coming earlier. Thank you for your understanding!)
4) AM Cohort pick up begins at 10:40am and PM Cohort pick up begins at 3pm. Please drive the car all they way to the next stopped vehicle and have your student name/teacher placard in the window dash.
Remember, every child is another person's sweetheart. Please trust that we are seeking to get students to class and picked up efficiently and safely. We are so appreciative and thankful for the support that our Seawolf Families are giving us. #UELFPride
Call or email Christina Lunde, christina_lunde@crpusd.org, if you have any questions or just want to talk and have someone listen to you. I am here to support your child and you.

Sol Azteca Join the UELF Community by visiting Sol Azteca on Tuesday, April 20 ALL DAY! A flier is going home with students on Monday, plus it's attached to this letter. Every purchase benefits our school! Thank you UELF PTA and Portillo Family for coordinating this event! | Field Trip Form Please sign the linked field trip form so your child and her class can walk along the Laguna de Santa Rosa, the trail adjacent to our school. During Hybrid Learning, our staff is supporting the students to explore their environment and dig deeper into science observation skills, Teachers will inform families when they do this walk. | Cartooning Resources Thank you UELF PTA for sponsoring this fun and engaging workshops for the students of UELF. Here are resources shared by the artist, Joe Wos, for students to continue their cartooning. This drawing technique is fabulous for students as they are documenting their thinking in projects. |

Hybrid Questions From UELF Families
When can I drop off my child?
-For the AM Cohort, drop off begins at 8:05am.
-For the PM Cohort, drop off begins at 12:20pm.
-Please refrain from dropping off any earlier.
When can I pick up my child?
-If driving, pull through the parking lot, along the sidewalk, to the furthest spot where you can.
-Place your student placard in the dashboard, which allows us to call your child towards your car.
-AM Cohort is done at 10:40am.
-PM Cohort is done at 3pm.
Will the students be having breaks and snacks?-Since the instructional block of time at school is 2 1/2 hours, there are no set scheduled snack breaks or recess, however teachers are planning instruction with breaks throughout the time, which includes time outside. We are sending students home with a snack and a meal to be eaten at home.
Will the students be on the play structure?
-Teachers are signing up for times to use the UELF outdoor space, like the play structure, garden, Laguna de Santa Rosa, Ladybug Park, the field, etc. There will not be a set play structure play time.
Usually my kids and I play on the play structure after school, is his allowed?
-Unfortunately, students need to leave the school when school is out. We are seeking to minimize the number of people on campus so socializing and hanging out is not allowed. Ladybug Park is available for families to use.
We usually walk or ride our bikes to school, is this still allowed?
-Yes! Please walk bikes and scooters once on campus. Please enter the school through the parking lot side so that all students can be checked in using their QR Badge and get their temperatures checked.
Does my child need to bring his/her device?
-Depends. Some classes are using the devices for communication and sharing ideas, however some classes are not using their devices at all. I strongly recommend that you read your teachers' weekly newsletter for this class specific information. If your child is going to multiple locations, like school to daycare or your office, then use the backpack to be the tool to move from place to place.
