Important Messages
- Historical Investigation Portal. SMCPS has developed a partnership with the Maryland Historical Society (MdHS) to gain access to the Historical Investigation Portal (HIP). All fourth and fifth-grade teachers will be receiving an email from the MdHS/AlchemyLearning.com about gaining access to this great instructional tool that focuses on disciplinary literacy skills. Click HERE for directions on using HIP.
- Professional Experience Credits may be awarded to individuals holding an Advanced Professional Certificate (APC). If you wish to earn professional experience credits for an activity such as supervising a student teacher, teaching a college class, or serving on a system-wide committee, please remember that you must submit your Application for Professional Experience Credits to Human Resources, attention Dr. Beth Beasley, prior to beginning the activity.
The application can be found here: http://www.smcps.org/hr/forms/306-professional-experience-activity-application/file - MSDE Social Studies Survey: As per Maryland statute, MSDE must conduct a yearly survey of social studies teachers and supervisors. This data is compiled and then provided to the Maryland General Assembly. It is important that we have as many social studies teachers as possible participate in the short survey. Please share the survey with social studies teachers. The survey will open on Monday, October 9, 2017, and close on Friday, November 10, 2017.
