Charles Ellis Montessori Academy, Week of April 25th, 2022

This DDDD, the Charles Ellis chapter of the National Junior Beta Club will be raising money for Team Seas. Team Seas is a charity with a focus on getting trash out of the ocean, specifically ghost gear (old or abandoned fishing gear). Every dollar that our students donate, a pound of trash will be removed from the ocean.
Students/staff should donate at least $1 to participate. An item will be sent out through School Cash Online (Savannah Parent School Cash Step by Step Registration Guide1.pdf) so that you can pay online (processing fee included) ahead of time or you may send cash with your student on Friday.
Students should follow the "Acceptable Dress for Non-Uniform Days" Guidelines on page 17 of the 21-22 Student Code of Conduct linked on the SCCPSS/Ellis websites.
Buy a Book, Get one FREE!
You can find out more information about adding money to your student's eWallet account on the Ellis Media Center website.
This book fair happens to coincide with PTA Teacher Appreciation Week! Books for the classroom make a great teacher gift! Ask your student's teacher if they have created an eWallet which you can add money to so that they can purchase books for the classroom.
We have a limited quantity of extra yearbooks for sale if you did not pre-order. They will be available on a first come, first served basis.
If you would like to purchase a yearbook, you can send $20 cash or check (made payable to Ellis Montessori Academy) to school with your student OR you may email Ms. Lisa for the link to pay with a debit/credit card through School Cash Online (processing fee included).
Did you know that Charles Ellis Montessori Academy participates in a Farm to School grant?
Representatives from Savannah Victory Gardens as well as the SCCPSS Nutrition Department work with our students on a monthly basis. Students participate in program activities such as: gardening, farm visits, nutrition, local produce samples, and more. School garden activities encourage healthy eating, get children to try new foods, teach the fundamentals of good nutrition, connect children to the concept of growing seasons, promote healthy outdoor physical activity, and offer students the chance to participate in environmentally meaningful activities.
We need your help. Please complete the short care-giver survey to share your views on the importance of school nutrition and school gardening program. Thank you!
Important- Please Take Note!
There is a setting under the "My Account" tab where you can select to receive an email notification every time there is an item available to purchase (i.e. yearbook, field day t-shirt, etc.) (see attached picture) so that you don't miss out.

The language for identifying/naming COURAGE in "The Self-Awakened Child" series by Jonathan Wolff:
- When I make a mistake and I tell the truth about what I did, I am acting with Courage.
- When I keep trying to learn something that is hard or scary for me to do, I am acting with Courage.
- When I try a new food or talk to a child in class I did not know before, I am acting with Courage.
