Good Evening Hickman Families,
Happy last week of school before our Winter Break!! Students will be dismissed at 11:30am on Friday, Dec. 16th, and PreK will be dismissed at 10:30am. We wish everyone a happy, healthy, and safe holiday and a Happy New Year!! Holiday celebrations will be the last hour of class on Thursday, and we will have pajama day on Friday. Students will still need to wear school shoes with their pajamas for safety reasons.
Our next Parent Update Newsletter will be on Sunday, January 8th, 2023.
Our last TEAMWORK TUESDAY of 2022 is this Tuesday, Dec. 13th. We would love to have family volunteers join us in the Community Room any time between 8am-12pm. You can come for an hour or stay the whole time to help teachers complete projects for classrooms and invite your child to come eat with you in the community room during their lunch time.
What a wonderful evening at Hickman International Fair Thursday! Thank you to all those who came and participated sharing food, music, and dancing! It is a great way to celebrate all of the cultures and customs of our Hickman families!!
Attendance Challenge for the week of Dec. 12th-16th!!! All homerooms will participate to see how many can join in the fun activities for being present and on time!! Students that have had perfect attendance for the quarter will have their "atTENdance" party on Friday, Dec. 16th!! See details below!!
A Reminder that our school day begins promptly at 8am!! PLEASE have your children at school on time every day! We are still having problems with chronic tardies. Students are missing morning announcements and community building activities in their class. Excessive tardies can add up to an entire day's absence. Thank you to those families that had their students arrive on time this week! Remember, every minute counts, and we want our students to begin their day prepared and settled.

Schoolstore.net Fundraiser Continues!!
We want to personally thank all the families who have already participated in our SchoolStore fundraiser! We are on our way to reaching our goal, but we need everyone's help to make sure our teachers get the essential tools they need to help our students succeed.
Many teachers have already used their gift cards to purchase items for your child's classroom!
This safe and easy fundraiser is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Your child will receive a prize just for participating, and more prizes will be awarded when goals are reached.
Please help now. It really will make a difference.
Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000027641 to show our valued teachers your support.

Welcome back Hickman Family!!
I am Tammie Hudson, your Advocacy Center Coach. The Advocacy Center is a room in your child’s school where students can visit to practice important skills and learn ways they can help themselves calm down or manage big feelings. My role in the school is to help students and families learn ways they can support their social and emotional health and wellness. I really enjoy working with children and would love to connect with you too!
In this room we work on the following skills (breathing, walking and meditation). This helps to regulate ourselves. As the Advocacy Center Coach these are things we talk about daily! I hope to be in touch with you to talk about the tools your child is learning in the Advocacy Center. You are welcome to send me an email at Tammie.Hudson@mnps.org
