9TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
The Freshman volleyball team played at home Tuesday night against the Hurst Red Raiders. The girls came out and dominated, winning in two sets! Our opponent couldn't take swings from Riley Northrup, Lily Keen, or Katie Tyson. Nor could they get past our net defense from Emma Pearcy and Julissa Martinez. Our back row specialists, Eliana Santiago, Shelby Beck, Olivia Hermus, Lily Ray, Maddie Mejia, were everywhere, sweeping up all the trash, and keeping the game alive. Shout out to our student section and teachers for coming out to support us. Also, thanks to Coach Winborne and Senora Ceballos' husband for reffing our game! :) The Lady Broncos travel to Boswell High School Friday night to continue to put wins in the win column for district play.
Last Friday night was the big Bell-Trinity volleyball game at Bell and the Freshman team took care of business with Euless Junior High. The girls came out with a close win in the first set and crushed it in the second set leaving the Lady Stallions hopeless. The server of the game was Miss Olivia Hermus, who served 11 serves in a row the final set to bring us home the win. Big-time hits from Riley Northrup, Lily Keen, and Katie Tyson left the opposing team's defense, well, defenseless. Dominating the net were Julissa Martinez and Emma Pearcy, both with 2 blocks each. Our defense was held up by our libero, Eliana Santiago, and defensive specialists, Shelby Beck, Lily Ray, and Maddie Mejia. Great job Lady Broncos!
9TH GRADE FOOTBALL
The Freshman football team beat Hurst Wednesday night 28-6.
The team got off to a slow start and Hurst took the lead 6-0, but then the offense marched down the field capped by a 20 yard touchdown throw from Aden Madsen to Elijah Thompson and the team never looked back. The Broncos’ offense scored 2 more touchdowns on the night by Lorenzo Martinez and Cam Thomas.
The defense also forced a safety and David Tyson had a pick six for a touchdown. Mason Erickson and Eric Avila made some big hits all game and Miles Erickson and Nathan Lum capped the Red Raiders running game all night. There were several pass break ups on the night notably by John Thompson and Semar Wa Ngandu. Great job Broncos.
Come watch the game next Thursday at LD Bell as the team looks to stay undefeated in HEB against the Central Spartans.
8TH GRADE FOOTBALL
The 8th grade A team played in a very intriguing contest against the Hurst Red Raiders Tuesday night but came up short in the end 20-14. Touchdowns were scored by Jake Preskenis and Jonah (Tui) Malaki. We play Grapevine Middle School next week.
The 8th grade Broncos football B team had a late game against their rival Hurst. The score was close throughout most of the game but fumbles held our offense back. Defense came out hard and played tough through the night led by Ben Merritt and Caiden Veazey.
8TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
Monday night the 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Hurst and cleaned house. The Raiders did not know what hit them with incredible serves from Kyra Turner, Makenna Standard, Reagan Hanacik, Ella Trevino and Briley Jean. When the Raiders did return the serve, Addison "mighty mouse" smith was there to answer with her amazing passes. The setters of the game were Aliya Kershaw and Natalie Luna. Big hitters of the game were Addyson Willliams, Kyra Turner, Briley Jean, and Zoey Herring.
Team one came out swinging hard against the Raiders with unstoppable serves from Macey "small but mighty" Spicer, Alina "ace" Vogt, Presley "the hammer" Rivers, and Avery "watch yo face" Burgan. Great leadership came from Tagan "the terminator" Henley as she led her defense on passes and spot serving. Big hitters of the game were Hannah "happy birthday" Due, Gracie "the wall" Schwartz, Alina "too tall" vogt, and Emily "wonder woman” Ventrca. Come support your Broncos Monday night here at Bedford as they take on Grapevine.
The 8th grade volleyball team would also like to thank LD Bell Volleyball Team and coaches for coming and supporting them in their game.
7TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL
Our 7th grade volleyball B team came away with a big win Monday night against Hurst to move them to 3-1 on the season. After going back and forth, point for point with the Raiders in the first game, Kaelin Vigil took control from the service line and got us a slight lead at the end, 22-20, and then Mia Williams finished them off with 3 straight serves to take Set 1. Kaylee Rinn also added 5 points from the service line for us.
In set 2, Serenity Williams started us off on a 7-0 run, to bury Hurst early. Hurst made a bit of a run to pull within 2, but our consistent service pressure and some great defensive play were too much for Hurst to overcome, and Darina Grantcharova finished off the set with 8 points from the service line.
The girls showed a ton of growth this week and are looking to improve on their record by taking down Grapevine next week. Great job, girls!
7TH GRADE FOOTBALL
The 7th grade A team came out firing on all cylinders Monday night. Taking it to Hurst, our boys pitched a shutout winning against our cross-town rivals 27-0. Leading the way was Jake McAlister who caught a touchdown pass from Braylon Harris and snatched a pick six for his second score of the night. Braylon also had a touchdown on the ground, and Cody Vong was able to find the endzone as well. Big shout out to our offensive line Jason Hovland, Dalton Vasquez, Frenson Wichep, Tyler Cramer, and Steven Nguyen paved big gaps for our runners all night. Defense did a great job stopping the Hurst offense in their tracks leaving the Raiders with a goose egg on the scoreboard.
The 7th grade football B team played a fantastic game also! The boys did everything possible to beat their cross-town rivals Hurst. Led by strong defensive play by Williams, Triplet, Solano, Reyes, Brewer, White, Mendoza, Levya, Smith, Washington, Deck, Negron, Naeem, Higdon, Youngman, and Schleuter. Offensive points were led by Kody Scott with two touchdowns, Diego Guzman, Jahmir Barayuga, and Cameron Perry.
Next week is a big matchup against Grapevine. Come out and support your Broncos!

BJH GRADING POLICIES
Late Work Policy
It is the philosophy of Bedford Junior High School that allowing a student to not complete all
assignments (and thus receiving a zero on the assignment) is unacceptable. In an effort to ensure that zeroes are kept to a minimum, the following policies will apply to all grades and subjects.
1. If a class assignment or homework assignment is not turned in at the designated time (and therefore late), the student may turn the assignment in to the teacher by 8:20 a.m. the next day past the due date. (For example, if a homework assignment is assigned on a Monday and due on Tuesday during the class time, it will be accepted until 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday.) However, work turned in during this time frame will receive a 30% deduction below the grade earned on the assignment. (For example, a late homework assignment turned in on a Wednesday in the above scenario that was 100% correct would earn a 70% in the teacher gradebook. A late homework assignment turned in on a Wednesday that was 90% correct would earn a 63% in the gradebook since 30% of 90 is 27.)
2. Class assignments or homework assignments not turned in during the above time frames may still be completed in Late Work Lunch Detention (LWLD). The teacher will submit the student’s name on a Google document. Lunch detention is served on the stage in the cafeteria. There is a maximum of 2 days to complete the assignment.
3. Students are responsible for notifying the teacher once work is completed. Work submitted during this time frame will receive a maximum grade of 50. If the work is not completed during this time, students may receive a zero and a referral may be written.
Gradebook Codes
- 0 for students that cannot make up assignment (i.e. cheating, did not turn in the work, or earned a zero on the assignment)
- 1 for students that work is incomplete, potentially turn into a zero or a 50
- X for students that are exempt from assignment
- Z for students that were absent and can get full credit
