Dear Hawkins Families!

Don't forget to turn in all of your hearts for our January/February Kindness Challenge!!! Our goal is 4500 and we are halfway there! We only have 3 weeks left of this month to get the other half in. Please help us!

Our kindergarten round up is just around the corner! Hawkins and Spencer will hold their round up on Tuesday, February 19 from 6:30-8:00. Hornung and Hilton will be holding their round up on Tuesday, February 26 from 6:30-8:00. The purpose of this night is to register your child for JK or Kindergarten, learn about our curriculum, meet some of our staff members, and walk around our school. We are all very excited to welcome our new families! Please check out the flyer below.

Lastly, thank you to all of the parents who came to Hawkins today for the Parents are Partners in Literacy Learning Group. We had a huge turnout. I will be sharing the information presented in a separate email shortly.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Girls on the Run for 3rd and 4th Grade Girls

Hi Hawkins Families!

My name is Morgan Bridgewater, and for those of you who do not know me, I am a new first grade teacher here at Hawkins! Not only is this my second year teaching, but it is also my second year coaching Girls on The Run (GOTR)!

GOTR is a curriculum based program that is about SO much more than running. It envisions a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams! Included in the program is a ten week training for a 5k, along with a curriculum promoting competence, confidence, character, and so much more!

We will be holding practices after school on Mondays and Wednesdays at Hawkins from 4:00-5:30pm starting on March 4th, and running until May 15th. We will end the season with a 5k that everyone is welcome to run/walk/skip on Saturday, May 11th. Registration is officially open, and will end on February 22nd. Scholarships are available (please contact info@girlsontherunsemi.com for more information). To register your child for GOTR, please click here.

Coaching along with me will be Betsy Schmidt (4th grade teacher at Hawkins) and Heather Graves (2nd grade teacher at Hawkins)! If you are a parent interested in volunteer coaching, please reach out to me at bridgewaterm@brightonk12.com.

I am so excited to be a part of Girls on the Run again this year, and cannot wait to empower and run with your girls after school.

-Morgan Bridgewater
