The Lewis and Clark Expedition
During the expedition Lewis and lark found and did a lot of good things as well as when they got back
- Jefferson asked Lewis and explore the new land. Lewis ask Clark to join him on the trip.They left in may of 1804 from St. Louis to go and explore the new land. 7 months into the journey they met Sacagawea and her husband. she was a Shoshone Indian. She and her husband acted like the guides for the expedition, she also had a baby on that journey.
Lewis
Lewis was born on august 18, 1774
After the expedition he was appointed governor of Louisiana by Jefferson after the expedition.
He died on October 12 1809 at the age of 35 he killed himself by shooting himself several times with a gun in a inn in Nashville.
Lewis and Clark
When they returned from the journey they were greeted with great thanks. They mad a detailed route map that provided info about plant and animal life they founded and the climate of the country.
Clark
Clark was born August 1, 1770.
After the expedition he was awarded 1600 acres of land and $1,228 in back pay after the expedition.
29 years after Lewis died Clark passed away in 1838 at the age of 68 on September 1 and he died of old age.
Findings on Expedition
- during the expedition they found different plants and animals some animals were the swift fox, grizzly bear, mule deer, and the white-tailed rabbit. They had lot of plant life like bur oak, the juniperus horizontalis, and anemone canadensis.
