Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested for protesting and put in jail for 11 days and in that time he wrote the famous 39 paragraph long letter from Birmingham jail.

Why King Was Protesting

The reason Martin Luther King was protesting was because he wanted to take down segregation and have freedom for all so therefor he led people to peacefully protest.

Why He Wrote The Letter

The reason Martin Luther King wrote the letter is because he wanted others to protest to take down segregation in the U.S.
