Letter from the Principal
Dear Black Bear Families,
We hope that everyone is able to enjoy some sunshine this week. We really appreciated the good weather for our first week with students starting in-person hybrid. We also want to thank all our families who have helped support getting students prepared for this week of transition. Our preschool program at the Tualatin Early Childhood Center (TECC) and our distance learning classes also have done well during this week. It takes a great deal of teamwork and strong family partnerships to reach this level of success given our current circumstances. There are a few important reminders and some updated information I want to share now that we have experience with our Kindergarten - 5th grade students on the Tualatin Elementary campus.
Arrival & Dismissal Times Reminders & Information
Morning arrival: 7:50 - 8:00 AM
Morning dismissal: 10:50 AM
Afternoon arrival: 12:05 -12:15 PM
Afternoon dismissal: 3:05 PM
Please remember that students will be allowed to enter the school at 7:50 AM for morning hybrid and at 12:05 for the afternoon hybrid. Students who show up before then need to wait on a bear paw outside the front doors. Parents and students may wait in their cars in the parking lot or wait with their student(s) by the flagpole on bear paws.
Dismissal and Pick-up: If you are picking up your child in a car or in-person, please have a sign with student(s) name(s) and teacher(s) so we can quickly get you connected during dismissal. We can provide a sign if you do not have the materials we sent out this week.
Important: please communicate how your child will be going home with your child’s teacher:
WALKING HOME: Independently or with friends - designate a spot to meet before walking home. Please let your child’s teacher know if we need to help with this.
CAR PICK-UP: Be patient and please wait in your car. When we see the sign with student name(s) and teacher(s) we will call for them to come out along the sidewalk.
IN-PERSON PICK BY FLAGPOLE: When we see the sign with student name(s) and teacher(s) we will call for them to come out
BUS OR CHILD CARE BUS
We want to keep dismissal time as short as possible for all our families. You can help by having a consistent daily plan for how your child is getting home each day and by having the sign ready to display the student and teacher name(s). Thank you for your patience and understanding as we support the new way to have a safe and timely dismissal.
We all wish you a wonderful weekend,
Mr. Kingery
Picture Day April 22!
