Dewing School Happenings

Hello Dewing Families,

We have a lot to be excited about as we near the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Teachers are organizing fun classroom activities, which we are sure your child(ren) will enjoy.

Our PAC has also organized two great events! Thank you to our PAC for helping to make the end of the year fun!

  • Our Book Fair is underway and our front entrance has been transformed to a beautiful bookstore. Shopping dates are included in this newsletter.
  • Field Day-Is back! Our PAC has modified our traditional Field Day to allow our students to participate this year. We are SO EXCITED!

In May, Tewksbury Public Schools held a virtual art show. In case you missed it, we have attached the Dewing Art for you to view. A HUGE thank you to our artists and Art Teachers (especially our own Mrs. Kosiba) for their hard work! We sure have a talented group.

Enjoy the week!

Important Dates:

May 28-Half Day (Early Dismissal)/No PM PK

May 31-No School

June 16-Last Day of School

School Lunch Information!

The USDA announced on April 20th that they have extended free school meals (breakfast & lunch) through June of 2022. Each student may receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily throughout the upcoming school year.

Note: second meals or any a la carte items (i.e., bottled water, snacks, etc.) will be at paid status.

Please refer to this document if you need any information on Arrival and Dismissal changes.

School Lunch

As a reminder, school lunch is free for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. If your child is attending school in person, your child will use the lunch line when getting school lunch beginning April 5th (socially distanced). If your child orders a lunch, there will be a snack included for the next school day.

A reminder, please complete the free and reduced lunch form if you believe your child may be eligible. Even though lunches are free this year, the district receives funding when these forms are completed. Thank you! (Forms can be downloaded from the TPS website)

School Meals FAQ

Please see this important information regarding school breakfast and lunch during this period.

Thanks to our PAC for this wonderful water-filling station. Please make sure your child comes to school with water as it gets warmer. The bottles can be refilled here!

Visitors to the Dewing/Late arrivals/Nurse Dismissals

Visitors-Please be reminded, at this time, visitors are not permitted inside the building. This is for the health and safety of our students and staff. The only people permitted are staff members, students and approved contractors. If you need to contact the office in person, please come to the main door and ring the bell. A staff member will come out to talk to you and help you.

Late Arrivals-If your child is dropped off to school after 8:45, you must park in an assigned parking spot (not the bus drop off lane) and walk your child to the door. Please ring the bell and wait for a staff member to greet your child in person.

Nurse Dismissals-If your child is dismissed by the nurse, the dismissal area is now through the gym door (last door, closest to the C-wing). The gym is located on the right side of the building as you are facing the building. This is also the parent drop off area. You must call the nurse from your car to inform her of your arrival 97-640-7858 x303

We know that these procedures are different from other years and we appreciate your adherence to them. Every change we make is done to support the health and safety of our community. Thank you.
