Cookies For Childhood Cancer Fundraiser
September is National Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes. In the United States, cancer kills more children every year than AIDS, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies combined. Yet, the National Cancer Institute allocates .03¢ for every $1.00 to pediatric cancer research. How can we say our children are our futures when cancer is taking them before they have one?
During the week of September 19-23, as a school family, we would like to help bring awareness and raise funds to Pediatric Cancer Research. All Proceeds will be donated to Cookies for Kids Cancer a National 501(c) 3 non-profit committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer.
Many people will go a lifetime never meeting a child that endures chemo. Here at India Hook we have had 3 children under go chemo. No parent wants to hear his or her child has cancer! Let’s help make a difference in a child’s life, and show that we care.
A donation of $2 for the week not only gives your child the opportunity to participate, but also help a great cause!! If a check is written for a donation please make it out to “Cookies for Kids Cancer”.

We wanted to reach out to you to let you know that like most schools in the United States, we have a number of students in our school that have potentially life threatening food allergies. Children with food allergies can have life-threatening reactions with exposure to even tiny amounts of allergen. There are certain guidelines that need to be followed to keep these students safe and ready to learn. We are asking for your help to provide the student with a safe school environment.
1. -There will be special days and occasions that students may want to bring a snack to share. Please call the teacher for “allergy safe” suggestions. All food products must be store bought with an appropriate food ingredient label. You must notify the classroom teacher 48 hours in advance if you plan to bring a snack in to the classroom. This will give the food-allergic child’s family an opportunity to provide their own safe snack. You may also consider sending/donating a book or game to the class in your child’s name or sending a non-food treat.
