Halloween Fun
Let's have some fun! Students will be allowed to wear Halloween costumes this year if they so choose. However, students who come to school in costumes that are violent in nature, inappropriately revealing, or culturally offensive will be asked to change into regular clothing. Students may NOT paint their entire face or wear costume masks. NO FAKE or LOOK ALIKE WEAPONS of any kind, even if they are plastic. Beardsley administration reserves the right to ask students to change if a costume is deemed inappropriate or disruptive to the school environment. Please check with an administrator if you have any questions. Additional note: Because of the health needs of many of our students, we will not have classroom parties. NO food will be allowed in classrooms. Please plan ahead and avoid dropping items off at school for your student that are not needed for class/academic work.
Veteran's Day
Hannah Beardsley Middle School would like to honor family members or friends who have served in the Armed Forces. We would like to invite these courageous men and women to attend a short assembly with their HBMS student or staff member, where our Hannah Beardsley family will honor and thank them, then treat our veterans to a Cookies and Coffee/Cocoa Social. If you have a veteran you like to have honored at the assembly, please complete this form or call Mrs. Alberth at (815)788-5750.

HBMS Food Pantry
We will be relaunching the Food Pantry this week outside the Building on the basketball courts. If your family is in need of food for meals our neighbors at the church will be partnering with us to make some available in our food pantry. There will be prepared meal bags during the week and snack bags available on Friday for the weekend for your students. There will also be some personal hygiene bags in the other shed and some house supplies at times. If you have needs please feel free to use this resource for your families needs.

Community Harvest Food Drive
HBMS is proud to support the Crystal Lake Food Pantry and looks forward to participating in the 32nd annual Community Harvest Food Drive. Last year, District 47 schools donated 7,723 pounds of food, which equates to nearly 6,500 meals! See this year’s flyer for most wanted food and household items. Monetary donations are also appreciated; checks can be made payable to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. Donations will be accepted until Friday, November 18.
Item Drop-Off for Students
We are experiencing an unusual number of incidents in which parents are dropping off items for students. There are work-arounds that will save parents time and effort and minimize disruption to our classrooms and learning environment. Please note the following:
- Loaner gym uniforms are cleaned regularly. Students can use a loaner uniform and participate in gym during the day if they forget their uniform.
- Loaner Chromebooks are available so a student can complete all assignments in the school day without needing their own device.
- Lunches can be given to cafeteria supervisors, who then get them to students during their lunch period.
- Band instruments can be given to the band department. Students can then retrieve them during their allotted band time.
