Superintendent Briefing
April 2022
A Note from Dr. Hanson, Superintendent
Dear Students, Staff, Parents, and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that today is April 1st, but here we are!
We have so many exciting activities across the district and in our community. At NPHS, we are well into our spring sports, contests, conventions, and projects. Across the district, we will begin celebrating end-of-the-year activities, play, and music events. In our community, we see spring activities being planned with the knowledge of graduation quickly approaching.
It is easy to get swept up in the fun, and who can blame you? I want to encourage you to finish the year strong by staying focused on schoolwork, reading, and attending classes. As of today, we have 30 school days for students and 32 workdays for staff before the summer break.
Stay focused, finish strong, and keep cheering on our Bulldogs in everything we do!
You are the best. WE ARE NPPS!
Sincerely,
Ron Hanson, NPPS
Superintendent

Summer Activities & Maintenance Schedule
Many parents, teachers and even us think that summer is a 3 month process, but I have realized that after July 4, our "summer" is actually over. I want to give you some dates, days and issues that we will be dealing with this year on summer work.

Teaching and Learning
Why STEM?
Third through sixth grade students from schools across the district gathered in March for a High Ability Learner Seminar Day. This day was centered around learning how technology can benefit our world in a positive way. Students learned how to use computer coding, experimented with geocaching, and made both stop motion videos and robots! Guest speakers included Brandon Petersen- high school technology teacher, Nicki Dorsey- elementary media specialist, and Nicole Bruck- 3rd grade teacher at Washington. It was a great day of learning for over 120 HAL students!

Kids Klub
Kids Klub celebrated our 20th Birthday March Mega Day in style!
Students and staff came together for the ultimate birthday celebration at Jefferson School that morning and we continued the party at Wild Bill’s in the afternoon.

Also this month, Carrie, Delana (Ike), and Tina (Cody), spent four days at the National Afterschool Convention and it was nothing short of awesome!!
After a two year pause in in-person collaboration it was great to be back with hundreds of our peers learning about the new and exciting things planned for the world of after school. It was nice to have the work we do here in North Platte Kids Klub validated on the National level. Many programs aren’t as lucky to have the support that we do here.
Looking forward to Spring! Great things are coming our way!
As always, thank you for the support you give our program,
Carrie Lienemann, Director

1:00 pm – Until Food is Gone
This is an OPEN AIR, DRIVE THRU Distribution. Patrons will drive their car through a line, and volunteers will bring the boxed food to the car. Free of charge. 325 Households will be served on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Food Bank of Heartland sponsors the Food Pantry.
Please start the line OUTSIDE of the school parking lot next to the tennis courts. DO NOT COME INTO THE PARKING LOT PRIOR TO THE SEMI UNLOADING THE DISTRIBUTION ITEMS.
If you are in the parking lot prior to the gates opening, we will ask you to move your vehicle. When the mobile distribution begins, cars can drive up to the gate by the Northeast corner of the football field. Patrons will drive through the alley between the football field and the high school building, exiting on West A Street. Use only the entrance closest to the tennis courts to avoid congestion as students leave after school. While waiting for the distribution to begin, you need to follow all traffic laws. Do not block driveways or streets for any reason. Safety is our number one concern, and we do not want anyone to get hurt.
