Making a STAND for PUBLIC EDUCATION!

Approximately 20 of our M.S.D of Mt Vernon teachers joined thousands of educators across the state at the Indiana Red for Ed Rally at the Statehouse on Saturday, March 9th. This rally was a demonstration of solidarity among teachers, administrators, board members, and even some students as they sent a clear message to legislators that public education needs and deserves increased funding and resources. This message is evident when analyzing the current preliminary formula projections, which results in a 0% increase in new money for our district due to declining enrollment. Pairing this local scenario with the current rate of inflation (approximately 2%), and the increases just don't add up to be enough. Change requires action, so our association will continue to make our needs known to legislators, and we encourage all supporters of public education to do the same.

Dot and Dash at Marrs!

Dawn Bowen's class learned about measurement and block coding with the Dash robots. They also used the Dot robot to play a game of hot potato! Giving these grade 2 students a challenge, and watching them problem solve is an awesome experience. Learning with technology is motivational and fun!

Seniors and their Passion Projects!

Mary's senior students are preparing their passion projects for display. It's quite amazing to hear the wonderful topics that hold interest in their hearts. You will not want to miss talking with them and hearing the passion in their voice. This week they worked on creating a Google Form to gather feedback from respondants. The pictures show students working in Canva to create business cards with their Form QR code.

Join the students on April 29, and make sure you have a QR reader on your phone!
