The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The second installment to the epic Hunger Games series. Katniss Everdeen has won the 74th hunger games along with her fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. With the 75th annual hunger games nearing comes the Quarter Quell, where the games are dangerously changed, and because of the uprisings she has helped create, President Snow is aiming to punish her.

Point of View

This novel is told in first person point of view. We know this because it uses the pronouns, I me, my, they, he, and she. It is told from the point of view of Katniss Everdeen, and it shows her thoughts and feelings.


Literary Devices

1.) "I clasp the flask between my hands even though the warmth from the tea has long since leached into the frozen air".......Imagery

2.) "buckets of money, far more than enough to feed both [her and Gale's] family".....Hyperbole

3.) "nose wrinkles in disgust".....Personification

What we thought if the story...

We each have read all three of the books in the Hunger Games series, and we agreed on Catching Fire to be our choice for a summary because it was both of our favorites in the series.
