A Note from Mrs. Lake & Mrs. Gross
Hi Grassy Creek Families,
Our staff celebrated student growth in the areas of reading, writing, and math with our district administrators yesterday morning. We track progress specifically in the areas of reading level, fact fluency, and elaboration and details in writing. This is why we consistently ask students to focus on reading at their level and to work on fact fluency for homework. If you have questions on how to help your child continue their growth, please contact your child's teacher. We also shared about our Warrior Way incentives and celebrations with district administrators. Ask your child about the Warrior Way and how they show this daily.
We often get questions from families about setting controls on digital devices. Below is a guide you may find useful. Scan the QR code for more information.
Thank you for your support,
Mrs. Lake & Mrs. Gross

New Teacher Spotlight!
Grassy Creek Elementary would like to welcome Mr. Wolfe to our 5th grade team. Mr. Wolfe has taught for 17.5 years prior to retiring in 2016. He is most excited about the opportunity to work with kids again. Mr. Wolfe thought he was done being in a classroom, but this chance was too good to pass up. Mr. Wolfe attended Westminster High School in Westminster, California and earned his Bachelor's degree in Education from IUPUI. He is licensed to teach PE and Health too. Below are his responses to our "Getting to Know You" questions.
Favorite Way to Spend Time Off - "My wife and I like to spend our time traveling in our RV. Personally, I enjoy working in the garage or yard."
Favorite Vacation Spot - "Michigan. I love being near the water. I grew up along the beach so Lake Michigan is as close as I can get to the ocean."
Pets - "5 dogs and 2 cats. It is not a quiet house!"
Favorite Beverage - "I love unsweetened tea. I'm sure I drink too much of it."
Favorite Candy - "It's hard to say what my favorite candy is. I really enjoy chocolate. If I had to choose one thing, it would probably be dark chocolate peanut clusters."

Car Rider Information & Reminders
To improve traffic flow during arrival and dismissal at GCES, we would like families of GCES students to enter school grounds off of Worthsville Road onto Palmore Way (first entrance to CPMS.) Then take your first left before the tennis courts (turn left/west). Continue on the access road to the end of the sidewalk on the north side adjacent to door 8.. Staff members will walk out door 8 to welcome students into the building at 8:50. We will no longer use the front of the building for drop off. Cars should continue on straight to exit the lot.
Clark-Pleasant Early Learning Center is a part of GCES, and their arrival time is 8:45. These families will enter off Sheek Road and line up fro drop off in the front of the building. (Early Learning Center car rider information)
If students arrive after 9:05 a.m., an adult will need to park and sign their student in at the front office.
Car rider families should enter the same way for afternoon car rider pick up, but stop at the corner that leads to the front drive. A staff member will come out at approximately 3:50 to dismiss students. Students will exit out of door 4. Cars should pull up to the flag pole once dismissal begins.
ATTENTION: Parents of students that go to after school daycare!
If your student attends a daycare that is within our GCES boundary, you will need to complete an "alternate bus stop" form in order for your child to be dropped off at the correct stop. You can access that form here or contact our transportation office at 317-535-7255.
