Google Drive Tips and Tricks
For the Elementary/Intermediate Teacher
Google Docs
- You do not have to have an account in order to access the document if you have the link
- Google Translate allows you to translate documents into another language and then saves a copy to Drive
- Documents can be a collaboration document
- Voice Typing is also a tool within Google Docs
Google Drive
- Online storage that is accessible ANYWHERE!
- Forms, Slides, and Docs are all accessible on the Drive
- For the creation process, you will need the Docs, Slides, and Sheets app
- If on a device, download the Drive app
- Everything you create in Drive is private, until you share it. Everything is driven by the blue shared button
- There is a button in an email to add the document to drive automatically

- Turning on Safe Search
- Define (just type it before the word in search)

Some Drive specifics
Left Side
- The Red button at the top is for creating New Folder or New Document
- Shared with me is where to find documents that are shared with you
- You can star folders for organization
- You can upload entire folders
When you right click on a folder
This is how to share a folder, change the color of the folders, rename a folder etc.
Top Right Hand corner
This is how to organize your Drive
- The first button is list view or icon view
- The next is alphabetical
The Share button
- You can add something that was shared with you to your drive by Moving it to your drive
- Everything you create in Drive is private, until you share it. Everything is driven by the blue shared button
