MSE Monthly Buzz

February 2021

February was.......

SNOWY! VERY, VERY SNOWY! As always, the students, families and staff did not let a little snow (or in this case a LOT of snow) stop them from having a bunch of fun while learning. In this month's newsletter, you will see just how much fun we had as well as learn about the PTO, how to get help with school work and coping skills to help with handling emotions. Enjoy the pictures and stories about the great happenings at MSE during the month of February.

100th Day of School!

Check out the cool pictures below of how students from Mrs. Roses', Mrs. Bioh's, Mrs. Dickerson's and Ms. Tobin's classes celebrated the 100th day of school! Some did projects involving the number 100 while others dressed like they were 100 years old. Nice job, old timers!

Color Haikus

Mrs. Lucykanish's class learned about writing haikus. A haiku is a type of Japanese poetry that is 3 lines long. The first line is 5 syllables, the second line is 7 syllables, and the third line is 5 syllables. Haikus are often written about nature. The students took the colors of the rainbow and wrote a haiku about something in nature that is that color. This was a fun, virtual day activity for the students. They got to be creative and then share their creativity with each other. Click the button below to view the class Color Haiku slides.

MSE American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge

We are doing things a little different this year for The Kids Heart Challenge(formally Jump Rope for Heart). However, we wouldn't miss the opportunity to learn all about the heart, learn what we can do to keep our heart healthy, and donate if possible.

We have posted all the information on Spectacular Specials in Google Classroom under Health. There are a few videos explaining how to sign up, what the Kids Heart Challenge is all about, how you can donate if possible and donation gifts. We are not collecting any forms, cash or checks. Donations this year are only being accepted online. This will be explained to the students in health class and we will be working on getting our hearts pumping in physical education! Here is the link if you would like to register and learn more about the program. https://www2.heart.org/site/SPageNavigator/ym_khc_get_started_guide If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Falzone or Mr Bealer.
