PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Liberty Park Families,
It seems that Winter has arrived! As temperatures continue to drop please make sure that your student(s) have proper winter wear. If we can be of any assistance in helping make sure your student has access to a winter coat, hat, gloves, etc. please contact the school office at 317-532-1850 and ask to speak with our school counselor Mrs. Tapper, or our Dean Mrs. Hench.
School Board and School policy encourage outdoor recess for our K-4 students whenever possible to encourage activity and social playtime. Our threshold for cold weather is 20 degrees. When the temperature falls below 20, students will have recess indoors. The 20 degree temperature would also include wind chill. In other words, if the temperature is 25 but the windchill falls below 20 degrees, students would remain indoors for recess. If students are not feeling well or a parent wants them to stay in for health reasons beyond 1-2 days, a doctor's note is required.
Don't forget that our PTA's annual Holly Jolly Fest is coming up on Friday, December 6th! It will run from 6-9pm, we hope you are able to stop by!
I hope that you and your family have a great weekend and as always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary!
Your Principal,
Jason Brooks
Message from Dr. Hanson
Dear Warren Families,
Our goal in MSD Warren Township is to provide a safe and high quality educational experience. As you may have heard, Tuesday, November 19 has been designated as Red for Ed Action Day in Indiana by the Indiana State Teachers Association. At their most recent public meeting, the MSD of Warren Township Board of Education approved the recommendation to cancel school on Tuesday, November 19 in support of Warren Township teachers and staff participating in the Red For Ed Action Day at the Indiana Statehouse with colleagues from around the state. The MSD of Warren Township and the Board is supporting our staff participating in this event to improve conditions for Indiana teachers as well as to advocate for our students, our schools, and our community. By cancelling school on November 19th, we believe this supports our district goal of providing a safe and high quality educational experience both short term and into the future. Further, the Board approved the utilization of our flex day on Friday, May 22nd as the designated make up day for canceling school on November 19th. School and district offices will be open on November 19th.
We recognize that not having school will create challenges for some of our families. We will be providing lunch to all MSD Warren Township students at no charge; the host sites serving will be the three intermediate middle schools from 11:00 - 1:00. We are working with the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club to provide opportunities for those families who need supervision for their child. Please monitor our digital app and district website for additional information that may be distributed regarding student activities and services available on November 19th. We are communicating this as early as possible to provide families with an opportunity to plan for the closure on November 19th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for supporting our teachers and staff and the great work they do each day in our classrooms and community for our students.

Cassie Keller - LIFE Skills
I am so happy to be teaching in the Life Skills classroom this year! I previously taught special education (ED) at IPS and was a behavior therapist at BACA before that. I married my high school sweetheart 2 years ago and we have an Aussiedoodle, Lenny. We love to spend our time out on the lake on our boat and travelling. I also, coach soccer. So happy to be here, come on by and say hi to my wonderful 7 friends. They love visitors. :)

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. If you would like to complete a recommendation for the broad based planning committee to consider you can do so here 2020-2021 High Ability Parent Recommendation Form The parent recommendation form will be open until January 31, 2020.
AM Drop Off: Students should not be dropped off in the front of school until the 7:55am bell. In efforts to keep all students safe, kids should remain in vehicles until the bell.
- Birthday Treat Policy: All MSD Warren Schools have aligned their birthday celebration policies to the district’s wellness policy. As part of our efforts towards health and wellness, we follow a “no birthday treats” guideline.
- Visitors Background Checks: Volunteers must have a valid background check on file in the front office as well as be included on a students emergency contact form for any type of school volunteer opportunities. If you would like to complete this process or have any questions please stop by our front office.
- Student Absences: If your child is ill and will not be at school, please call the front office at 532-1850 or use your School Dismissal Manager App to report his/her absence. Please call and report if your child will be arriving late to school due to a doctor’s appointment. Doing so helps us to know that your child is safe and with you.
