A Look at Our Week
We are excited about our Thanksgiving Luncheon this Friday! Please come and join your child at 11:55 - 12:25 in the cafeteria, and feast with us. After lunch, you are welcome in our classroom until 12:45. Your child is eager to share their writing and reading with you, and to show you their work on display. We have been working hard at creating our classroom together, and they are proud of their efforts!
We will be finishing our unit on 2-D shapes in Math Workshop. Our Shape Mural will be on display on Friday, and our Math board is full of pattern pictures. At home, see if you can identify any rhombus shapes in your environment. If you find any good examples, take a picture and send it to lindsay.fox@acsgmail.net. We will be returning to measurement at the end of the week, our first task will be to measure our shoes!!
I will continue testing your children on their sight words this week, and returning a sheet of paper with words circled that still need reinforcement. Sight words learned this far are: I, it, can, see, the, we, in, at, a, like, to, and, go, on, you, my, up, is, am, said, here, me, look, come, make, day, his, her. This week's words are eat, away, did, will Please help your child learn these words at home; Sight words are crucial to your child's progression in reading.
Last week in Fundations, we learned the last vowel, e - ed -/e/, and another consonant, r-rat-/r/. Ask your children at the end of the week what their two new letter/keyword/sounds are!
We will be having a publishing party tomorrow to celebrate their hard work going through the whole writing process, from idea to published piece. I am looking forward to hearing them read their writing to each other, and they will be reading their writing to you on Friday if you have time to visit!
