Transportation PBIS Award
Transportation held its first presentation of its Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) reward for setting a great example on the school bus. The first award recipient is Randall Days, 8th grader at Sproul Junior High. Randall received a $50 gift card to Walmart.
Teacher Awards
The ARC Pikes Peak Region ~ Public School Personnel Award
LeAnn Gonzales, education assistant at Widefield High School, was recognized at the board of education meeting for receiving the "Public School Personnel" award from The ARC. She was nominated by a parent for making a positive impact in students' lives every day.
Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association ~ Teacher Appreciation Award
Tracie White, lifeskills teacher at Sunrise Elementary, was recognized at the board of education meeting for receiving the "Teacher Appreciation Award" from the CSDSA. A parent nominated her for helping to improve behavior in the classroom and helping students to grow and mature.
KOAA Teachers First Award
Kristin Mason, marketing and business teacher at Mesa Ridge High School, received the KOAA News 5 "Teachers First" award during class today. She was surprised by the TV crew and nomination from a student. The award honors teachers who exemplify excellence in education, encourage and inspire others, and raise awareness of the importance of the teaching profession.
