Fraud Hotline
Dear Colleague,
Internal Audit would like to share some important information with you regarding our fraud hotline.
The district depends on our staff to communicate concerns you may have regarding:
- Unethical behavior
- Safety or Security concerns
- Violations of policies, procedures, or law
- Fraud/Theft
- Any other situation you are uncomfortable with
This short (approximately 10 minute) video outlines how best to share the concerns you have, whether with a supervisor, human resources, or the fraud hotline. Examples are included as a guide for your decision-making.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsHlocigw5Q&feature=youtu.be
We value your input. All concerns communicated are taken seriously and receive due professional care. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. Thank you for your service to the district!
Best Regards,

Professional Learning Opportunities
The Professional Learning Team would like to provide you with a few updates, including upcoming offerings. If you have any questions about the items below, do not hesitate to contact us.
- Teacher Mentoring: PISD policy requires that all teachers new to the district be assigned to a mentor. Please ensure that all teachers in their first year in PISD have an assigned mentor. Campus mentors receive ongoing training throughout the year, with the next day of required training on February 11 or 25. The district stipend allows for one mentor to work with up to six first-year teachers. If your campus staffing has changed and you require additional mentors to serve your teaching staff, please contact Craig McKinney at 28084 or craig.mckinney@pisd.edu so that new mentors will be looped into the ongoing training and will receive mentor communications.
- TExEs Exam Prep Cohort for Paraprofessionals: This is a great opportunity for paraprofessionals! The PL Team is offering a cohort-style course for any PISD paraprofessional who is planning to take at least one TExES Certification in or before July 2020 in order to complete their teacher certification. Applicants must be enrolled in an alternative certification program in order to participate in this cohort. PISD will purchase one test prep program for each participant. Click here to register once in PowerSchool Develop, or contact Edna Phythian at 28255 or edna.phythian@pisd.edu for additional information.
- Canvas and Quality Matters Training: Canvas is a powerful new tool for professional learning. Campus leaders could leverage Canvas to create fully online or blended learning opportunities for their campuses. Canvas--a learning management system with a robust set of tools for instruction, feedback, discussion, assessment, and collaboration--could easily be used to provide campus trade hours or create a one-stop shop for important campus news and documents. The PL Team is offering two Canvas training sessions this month. Contact Marcus Miller at 28102 or marcus.miller@pisd.edu for more information regarding these sessions. Please forward this to anyone on your team that might be interested. Just log into PowerSchool Develop through Webdesk and click this link.
