One School, One Family, One Timberview
Principal's Note 8-16-21
Dear Parents and Families,
We are only a few days away from the start of the school year! I am so excited to begin this year with all of our students back on campus. This year, we are refocusing on being One School, One Family, One Timberview. Below, you will find a lot of information that will be useful for you, including parent pickup and drop off locations and times, the bell schedule, processes for visiting campus and reminders for some of our upcoming events.
As I’m sure you are aware, the Delta Variant of COVID-19 is hitting our area really hard right now, with most hospitals in the area starting to fill up with cases in both children and adults. None of us want to talk about COVID anymore. All of us would like to collectively forget the challenges, experiences and heartache that COVID has brought on over the last 18 months. Unfortunately, we can’t do that. COVID is still in our area and still dangerous. We must persevere and do the things that have kept us safe since March 2020. There is no mask mandate in Keller ISD and no one will be forced to wear a mask on campus. With that being said, I recommend that everyone on campus; students, staff and visitors wear a mask to protect themselves and others. We know that COVID is an airborne sickness that can be partially mitigated when we all wear masks. We saw that throughout the school year last year. I also encourage those who are eligible and able to be vaccinated. While the vaccine doesn’t stop every case of COVID, it does limit the severity of the symptoms and is another line of protection against this deadly virus. Hopefully, by taking sensible precautions, we can get through this time, and celebrate at the end.
I understand that wearing a mask is a personal choice and I want to be clear that there will be no pressure on any student to wear a mask or not wear a mask when they are on campus. We will support all of our students where they are and treat them equally, in a loving and caring way. I am sending this message out to our parents and family members to help you make a conscious, informed decision on what types of precautions you plan to take as we enter the school year.
My goal is to have as normal of a year as possible this school year, while also trying to protect our students, staff and families as best as I can. To do that, let’s all take personal responsibility and stick to some sensible precautions, whatever you and your family deem those to be.
See you all on Wednesday!
