Google Read & Write
Text to Speech Extension
District Five students now have the Read & Write extension available to them. This text-to-speech extension will read Google Docs and web pages to the user.
When the extension is first enabled, the student will have the full version available to them. After 30 days, the extension will go to the “basic” version. Click here for a matrix showing the differences in the free version and the premium version. At this time, District Five is not planning to purchase the premium version.
For students using a Chromebook, follow these steps to install the Read & Write for Google extension.
Teachers can sign up for a free premium version of Read & Write here.
For students using an iPad, the Read&Write for iPad app can be installed from the App Store. They will also have 30 days of the full version. Once downloaded, the wizard will walk you through the set up process. (This app can be complicated to use at first.)
