Principal's Report - Phillip Reavis
21st Century Tech Tools
Below is a short video that shows students collaborating and using new technology at Oakview. Mr. Hoeft lead students through a Google Expedition using the Virtual Reality Lab focused on supporting student understanding of the American Revolution. The students were very engaged and excited to have a 360 degree view of their lesson. Ms. Hoefel wrapped her solar system unit with a BreakOut Edu task. Students were both challenged and excited to demonstrate their learning. Ms. Garosi’s students used FlipGrid for the first time. They were eager to use video to explain what they know about literary mystery. Watch video

BRICK WEEK IS HERE!
The time has finally arrived!! BRICK WEEK IS HERE…
There has been a lot of talk about the new playground that will be installed at Oakview this year. PTA spoke of the “Brick Campaign” as our way of fundraising to provide for it - in fact many of you have already pledged your support to buy a brick. After all of the discussion, the time has now come to make those pledges a reality. Even if you never pledged a brick, you still have a chance to leave your mark. Current students, OES alumni, past & present teachers, and other friends of Oakview are encouraged to support our brick campaign by buying a brick! We will launch the website where you can purchase & design your brick on Monday, February 12th and we will take orders until Friday, Friday, February 23rd.
We would LOVE to get the kids involved, so we have set up a fun-filled week of events that will take place Monday, February 12th - Thursday, February 15th.
The events will be…
- Classes will listen to the “BrickMaster” ask the “Question of the Day” on ONN. At the end of the week, the class with the most correct answers will WIN A BRICK FOR THEIR CLASS.
- There will be a BARREL OF BRICKS on a table in the cafeteria. Each student will be able to make one guess as to how many bricks are in the barrel. The student who guesses correctly will WIN A BRICK .
- Each class will be able to decorate a brick that will be added to the “BUILD A PATH TOWARD KINDNESS” display.
- Send in your pennies! The class with the most spare change sent in will win our PENNY WAR and will RECEIVE A BRICK FOR THE CLASS .
Stay tuned for more info!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR MAKING BRICK WEEK THE SUCCESS WE KNOW IT WILL BE!

Thank you to all Box Top collectors! Please make sure to send any clipped box tops by this Monday, February 12th.

Annual Children’s Book Drive
Start sorting through any children’s books your family may be ready to donate to brighten another child’s day! Our annual book drive will take place February 26th through March 2, 2018. We will be collecting each morning at both entrances or throughout the day books can be left in the collection bin near the main office.
This year Oakview is going to be donating any gently-used books to the Bair Foundation, who specialize in foster care, adoption, and family services here in Greenville. They are in great need of books for kids ranging from babies to young adults. Thank you in advance!
