MYP update of the week
Winter break provides a time for students to recharge and gear up for the end of second quarter in January. As we approach the end of the year, many people pause and reflect on their resolutions for the new year. Check in with your student to see if he/she has thought of any changes they would like to make in 2017.
This week at Ramsey
Ramsey Math Team hosted meet #4 on December 19th. We had 36 mathletes competing! That is the most we have had so far this year. Thanks to the student and staff volunteers who greeted our guests and helped with the set up for the competition. Team Ramsey continues to perform well and holds on to 3rd place.
Students in Visual Arts Exploration are starting their third choice project. Ask your student about their artwork, they should be bringing home projects that were graded. As we approach the end of the semester, you can help support students by monitoring their grades on Schoology. They are updated weekly.
Genius Hour students are starting on Unit 3: Animating With Scratch! Students will complete a series of projects starting with animating a flying bird, then creating a maze game with multiple levels. Students will then choose between recreating an animation or game from another scratch designer and adding their own twist OR creating their own game/story/animation from....scratch! Scratch is a programming site founded and run by MIT. Here is a short informational video: https://vimeo.com/65583694
A note about technology
Families able to make a donation toward the cost of purchasing replacement bricks and cords would help the school defray the overall cost.
Thanks in advance for your support!
