# Working out the area of a triangle

### Sophie Feighan

## The formula

Area = 1/2 x base x perpendicular height

## Step one Times the height of the perpendicular line and base of your triangle together. E.G. 8 x 12 | ## step 2 Once you have worked out the height times the length of the perpendicular line divide it by two. 8 x 12 = 96 96 divide by 2 = 48 | ## answer Area = 48cm2 |
