Punxsutawney Saw His Shadow!

Our first grade students watched together the replay of the Groundhog Punxsutawney
Phil's prediction for winter, and they realized he predicted six more weeks of winter! It seemed to be a mixed response from students whether this was a good thing or a bed thing, but nevertheless, we will have to wait and see just how accurate the Pennsylvania groundhog really is... In case you missed the video, please watch below!

Tardies have decreased!

During the first 9 weeks, students were checked out early 591 times. This nine weeks, that number was reduced by 70 to 521, an 11.8% reduction. Please help us continue to lower this by only using check outs for necessary appointments and sickness. This helps us increase much needed instructional time in the classrooms.

Focus on Habit 2

SDE is a Franklin Covey Lighthouse School and we focus on the 7 habits. Our students know and understand these well. One thing you can do at home is to ask your child this week how they've been using Habit 2, Begin With the End in Mind, at home. We want them to think about and use their habits at home and school to help them grow.
