Math Facts
From Mrs. Stasney:
If you were able to attend Parent Orientation a few weeks ago, you may recall that I shared that about 70% of 3rd grade math is brand-new material. We have already been hitting some of the new material hard! The students all seem to be getting the ideas and concepts quickly; however, many are making careless mistakes when adding or subtracting. We spend a little bit of time in class each day studying and practicing basic addition and subtraction facts, but many of the kids need a little more practice. Listed below are some ways you can help at home:
-Encourage your child to study his/her blue triangular flashcards each evening for 5-10 minutes!
-Ask your child basic facts while you're driving in the car!
-Play a board game that has dice. Instead of counting the dots, have your child add the 2 numbers rolled.
-Download a math facts game on your or your child's device (iPod touch, Kindle, iPad mini, tablet, etc).
-Review your child's work in his/her Monday Folder and work with him/her to correct any computation errors.
