This Week In Kindergarten...
We had another great week in Kindergarten! The kids had a great time visiting the PAW Store for the first time. We have also been enjoying the nice weather while we have it. Unfortunately, we already have a bug going around. If you think your child may be coming down with something, please let me know so I can keep an eye out.
Writing - Last week in Writing we continued to practice our writing independence. We also had the opportunity to read our first stories to a partner. However, our main focus this week was stretching words out and getting them on paper.
Reading - Last week our Kindergarten readers are building up their reading stamina minute by minute each day. Students are reading privately for up to 9 minutes now. We started using post-its as "pinches of me" in our books. Each student places a "pinch" in their book when they see/read something they connect with or like.
Math - Last week in Math we continued to practice counting objects and writing numbers. Along with this, we began identifying shapes and comparing.
Science - Last week we talked about the last 3 of 5 senses. We tried touching, smelling and tasting different foods with our eyes closed to see if we could guess correctly. All of the students participated, even if it was just a nibble when it came to tasting a pickle.
Social Studies - Last week in Social Studies we talked about Wisconsin and some things that represent our state.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please send them my way!
