Academic Team Calendar

Instructional Focus - 3.2A - Executes Learning Cycle

With 2.2A (Behavior Expectations) and 3.1A (Communication of the Learning Objective) in place, how well executed is the Learning Cycle?

  • How is the pacing? Does it match the learning target?
  • Who is carrying the cognitive load? (Who is doing most of the talking and thinking?)
  • What is the purpose of the lesson?

News, Helpful Hints, and Reminders

From the Academic Team -

  • School Site PD's start this week! Please make sure you inform Ryan, Marie, Shannon, David, Nimat and/or John of your agenda for that day. The Academic Team is available for support!
  • If you need Lauren Townsend's assistance with Data Reports for Oversights, please notify Lauren ASAP.
  • This week, Antoinette Wheeler will be out working from home. If you have any questions for Student Services, please email the entire Student Services Team (Antoinette, Kene, and Stephen) and cc Ryan and Marie.
  • Marie's schedule may be a bit off this week due to a couple of family members passing away this past weekend.
From the Operations Team -
  • If you haven't already, please respond to Enrique regarding the status of your CELDT testing.
  • The Great Shake Out (Earthquake Drill) will take placeThursday, October 15 at 10:15am.

    All schools need to participate. Lanise will be sending instructional materials and recommendations to schools. ICEF Home Office staff will visit some schools to gauge the overall process, and prepare future trainings.

From Our Development and Communications Team:

  • Mayor Riordan’s Foundation is again offering the 2015-16 Recreational Reading Mini-Grant where Pre-K-5 teachers submit wish list of book titles up to $1,000 for their classroom libraries. Last year a number of ICEF teachers were awarded books.

Celebrations and Worth Noticing!

  • Cheers to LDPES and LDPMS for having successful LAUSD Oversights! We do appreciate every Team Members' support and assistance.
  • Nia Tolliver, ICEF Rugby Team Member, soon to be in the news again! Sports Illustrated did a feature on her last week!
