Student Spotlight
The CB West Orchestra invited sixth grade student musicians from seven elementary schools, most of whom will attend West, to join them on stage on February 8 for their annual Winter Concert. The theme of the concert was music from Disney/Pixar/Marvel movies, and the “grand finale” featured our sixth graders performing “I See the Light” from Tangled, alongside the CB West Orchestra. Sixth graders worked hard in lessons to learn the music, and their efforts paid off with a beautiful performance!

Joel has been a pleasure to work with this year. He has two students from my class that he takes to the bus daily. He takes initiative. He helps the boys pack up and prompts them to get ready when they need it. He checks in with me and makes sure that the boys get to the right place. The boys bus numbers changed recently and Joel was flexible and willing to help out in any way possible. For these reasons, I think Joel should be the safety of the month.

Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
Parents/Guardians MUST sign the user agreement and pays* the user fee via MyPaymentsPlus (MPP).
Upon submitting the fee and MPP agreement, you are confirming that you have reviewed the information with your child.
