A Peek At Our Week

February 15 - 19, 2016

Language Arts

RF1.3, RF1.4, RL1.1, RL1.2, RL1.3, RL1.5, RL1.6, W1.2, W1.5, W1.6, W1.8, L1.1, L1.2, and L1.4

We will learn the sound/spelling for long /a/ a_e, ai, a, and ay. We will read “Hang On Rose”, “On Saturday”, and “The River City” in our hardback reader. Our reading strategy this week

will be answering questions. This month we will focus on asking questions before, during, and after reading a story. Our vocabulary words are assert, cheerful, congenial, congregate, offend, and retorted. We will work on learning adjectives (er and est). Our new writing focus this trimester will be opinion writing. We will become experts at writing a review.

Lunch Reservations

Our lunch time is 11:50 - 12:20.

We will work on greater than, less than, and equal to. We will work on adding 10 and subtracting 10 from a given number. We will work on solving problems in our math journals. We will work on math fluency in addition and subtraction to 10. We will do math centers/games to reinforce math skills already taught.

Science/Social Studies

We will be researching our topic (animal, thing or person) to make a “Did You Know?” bubble. We will learn about non-fiction features while doing this.

Each student is allowed 6 parent excuses per year (this is a change from years past). Parent excuses can be a hand written note or you may email the excuse to your child’s teacher and copy the excuse to: PPattendance@trussvillecityschools.com.

An ORIGINAL doctor’s excuse may be turned in from the parent by the student. Doctor’s excuses may be faxed to 205-228-3201 ONLY by the doctor’s office. We can NOT accept a faxed doctor’s excuse from a parent.

All excuses MUST be turned in within 3 days of the absence.
