Update from AVUHSD
June 25, 2020
Summer School
Summer School begins this Monday, June 29, 2020! We’ve missed you and look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting our new 9th graders online!
As a reminder, Summer School is only 19 days long, so students should be prepared to work diligently, as the entire session will be delivered through the distance learning model. This is totally online where no in-person attendance is required. All student work will be located in Google Classroom; some teachers may also require students to work with additional learning management systems like APEX or CANVAS (APEX & CANVAS login information will be given to students directly by teachers). Summer School hours are from 7:30am-1:00pm.
We are using a traditional grading system and students can expect the normal five hours of “class time” each day if they are enrolled in both periods 1 & 2 for Summer School. Keep in mind that students will be earning an entire semester or year worth of credit in only four weeks. It’s imperative that students create the time and space to actively work on their assignments, plus seek help early and often in order to achieve positive outcomes.
Students will be provided important information from their school sites regarding technology distribution (if needed), account information to access work, textbooks, tutoring opportunities, resetting accounts, etc. Please navigate to the school websites and look for site-generated emails for more specific information regarding Summer School.
