St. Maria Goretti Catholic School November 25, 2018
Mission Statement
St. Maria Goretti is a living testament to our Lord's work in His youngest disciples, exemplified by academic excellence, spiritual formation, and compassionate service to others.
Principal's Message
I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and were able to spend time with family and friends! It is hard to believe that we are coming into the final weeks of the first semester. The next few weeks are sure to go by fast, filled with many happenings and events at SMG.
The season of Advent begins next Sunday. The word Advent comes from the Latin word meaning coming. The Lord is coming. To prepare for the start of Advent, I pray that we are reminded to set aside some of the hectic busyness of the holiday season, and to quietly reflect on the promise of the baby born in Bethlehem 2000 years ago.
We look forward to welcoming students back tomorrow! Please be sure that your students come to school with jackets, coats, etc. as we like to be outside for recess, even if the weather is chilly. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
St. Maria Goretti, Pray for Us!
Blessings,
Laura Behee, M.Ed.
Principal

Raptor Visitor Management System is Here!
As promised, one area that we planned to use North Texas Giving Day funds for is the enhancement and updating of school security. We have been in consultation with Sabbath Shield Security Consultants as well as the Diocese to identify short and long term areas of security inprovements.
To that end, we are pleased to announce that using North Texas Giving Day funds, we have purchased and have implemented the Raptor Visitor Management System to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.
Upon entering the school building, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system. The Raptor system checks the visitor's name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered criminals including sex offenders. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency. Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork.
The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and your support in enhancing the school safety protocols at SMG.
The Silver Rose Visits SMG
Each year, Silver Roses are stewarded by Knights of Columbus councils for a pilgrimage that makes stops along routes from Canada to Mexico. The pilgrimage is a rosary-centered occasion for the Knights, parishioners, and community to pray for respect for life, for the spiritual renewal of each nation, and for the advancement of the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Silver Rose was in Fort Worth for two weeks on its pilgrimage and SMG parent and Knight, Mr. Anson Geisel, graciously arranged for the Silver Rose to be at SMG on Wednesday, November 14th at the 8AM Mass. Below are a few pictures from this special visit.
