What Are We Up To In Room 221?

Reading

Students reading Shiloh will begin their project to show their learning. Students will be asked to represents different views on the issues of Marty and Shiloh through a mock trial. They will use the book and what they've already learned to help convince other classmates to see their point of view.

Students reading Charlotte's Web will be finishing their book this week and reviewing the story elements within their book. They will then begin a project to demonstrate what they've learned throughout our novel study.

Students will be focusing on Point of View in a story, along with revisiting the story elements and how they've changed within the story.

Writing

This week students will be working on creating strong endings for their stories and editing/revising their writing.

**We will be presenting these during our publishing party, which all parents/guardians are invited to attend. The tentative date for this will be Oct. 12 but could be changed based on when students seem to be finished with their writing. Stay tuned for more details!

Spelling/Word Work

This week will be our second week with Words Their Way. Your student will be bringing home a bag of words daily and should practice sorting and spelling all their words. Their is a pattern for each list so be sure your child knows their pattern. The letter that came home contains activities that can be used for extra practice but they will not be required to turn this in because they also do activities in class daily.

Our test will be Friday, October 2nd.
