A Note from Mrs. Cimek
Hello Baker Elementary Families!
This month we are working on what it means to "self-direct". We break this down by using three words: think, choose, act. This encourages students to focus on what they can control or avoid as well as encouraging positive choices related to our emotions, attitudes, and actions. As we begin to see an uptick in student behaviors, we ask that you provide positive reminders regarding their ability to think, choose, and act each day. Thank you for partnering with us as we rally around your child(ren).
We are beyond excited to be hosting a few fun events this fall. We are looking forward to our Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31, beginning at 2:30 as well as our Literacy Night on Wednesday, November 9, beginning at 5:45. More information regarding both of these events can be found within our newsletter. We hope to see you there!
Respectfully,
Rachel Cimek

Distinguished Artist
Baker Elementary has a Distinguished Artist Program in which student artwork is on display like an art gallery for the school year. Each year 9 students are chosen as a
Distinguished Artist. The distinguished artist is a student who is responsible in art,
shows their creativity and works hard on all projects.
Congratulations to Austin!
Austin is the Distinguished Artist for his still-life art supply drawing. We learned a little about still-life drawings and paintings. Students then looked at a tin can filled with art supplies and did their best to draw what they saw. Austin was chosen for his attention to detail and wonderfully drawn picture. Austin also did a great job adding a variety of colors to make his drawing look very realistic. Way to go Austin!
Parking
Parking continues to be a concern for parents at pick-up. Although we wish we had a quick fix
for this, we do not at this time. PLEASE be mindful of children walking in the parking lot.
Parents, please hold your child's hand. We have now had a slight
bumper accident and a student nearly hit.
We are asking you to partner with us as we create a safe pick-up routine.
- Please have students bring their costumes to school. Students will get dressed in the afternoon.
- Students should practice putting their costume on at home to ensure they can independently dress themselves.
- Our Halloween Parade will begin at 2:30. If you are joining us, we have a few notes for you:
- Be mindful and aware when parking
- Enter school through the front door, signing in using the sign-in sheets in the hallway
- Head to the gym or cafeteria
- Enjoy the parade
- After the parade, head to your child's classroom
- After the activities, if you are picking up your child, please pack up their belongings and walk your child down to the hallway near the office and sign your student out.
Picture Retakes
- If your student was already photographed and didn't like their picture they just need to return their old picture package on retake day (no need to reorder)
- If your child missed the original picture day, please make sure to use the code below ...
Literacy Night
Apple Crunch Day
Our Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch Day was a success!
The goal is to educate families about healthy eating while promoting locally grown food sources. Check out these smiling faces taking a big bite of a delicious apple.
WEPA Meetings
WEPA meetings take place once per month. On these evenings, we have the ability to vote on how money is allocated, receive updates from staff regarding schools, and be part of a problem-solving committee that truly focuses on our schools.
