Parent Reminders
Tardies begin at 7:41AM
We have around 20-30 students arriving late most days. We begin learning at 7:40AM and we need our students in class every minute to reach their highest potential.
Phone calls and intervention plans will begin to be implemented this week for families frequently arriving late. Thank you for your support and partnership in helping our students being ready to learn each day!
Absence Notes
Did you know that from August 11- September 6, Alexander Elementary lost approximately $30,000 school funding due to unverified absences?
It is Texas Law that students attend school every day and documentation is required when students do not attend school.
Contact our Attendance Clerk, Arlene Gibson agibson3@dentonisd.org, 940-369-3510 with any questions about attendance and absence notes.
Dismissal Reminders
We wanted to remind you of our dismissal procedures in order to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We know that the car rider line can be frustrating and requires patience on everyone's part. Since we are a neighborhood school and do not have bus routes, our options for dismissal are limited to walkers, car riders, ACE or ESD. We work diligently to get students out safely and as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience and understanding with this.
Reminders:
- There is NO left turn into the car lane off of Double Oak. Please enter the car lane on Double Oak Street by turning RIGHT into the car lane. Left turns from Double Oak into the car lane will be redirected to around the building to join the line properly.
- The car lane turns into two lanes AFTER you enter the car line. After you pass orange cones, two lanes may begin forming.
- Please have your car tag displayed for both walkers and car riders at all times. This is to ensure students are getting home with the correct caregiver and is a safety measure our campus takes seriously.
- We also ask that you stay in your car when in the car lane - your child will be brought to your car at the colored cones.
Please see the attached map for a photo of the line direction. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we navigate dismissal in the safest and most efficient way possible.
Early Release Day
Just a reminder, we will have Early-Dismissal at 12:00 PM this Wednesday on November 16.
This will be the first of several half days you see reflected in our Denton ISD Calendar for the 2022-23 school year. Please take a moment to view the message from our Superintendent, Dr. Jaime Wilson as he shares more information about the addition of half days to our district calendar.
Also, the Denton Record Chronicle wrote an article providing more information about how our staff uses this invaluable time to prepare for student learning.
