Chula Vista High School - Home of Champions!
Week 32 April 16th - April 23rd
Message from the Principal
Good evening Spartans,
I would like to start by wishing our amazing Librarian, Ms. Janice Gilmore-See a very happy National Librarian's Day! If you have an opportunity this week, please stop by our awesome library to show your gratitude for the hard work that Ms. Gilmore-See and Ms. Thurston Hernandez, our Library Tech do for our students each and every day.
I also wan to recognize our Senior Class, specifically those of you that attended our Senior Prom this Saturday at the Natural History Museum. You are such an amazing group of students, and I am proud of how you represented yourselves, Chula Vista High School and the community. That's Spartan Pride!
Lastly, I want to make sure we are all on the same page in regards to the recent reports of threats made at several local schools last week. NO THREAT WAS EVER MADE TOWARDS CHULA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL. Students who heard about alleged threats to other schools and the irresponsible circulation of pictures from other campuses are what led to misguided information creating false rumors about the safety of our campus. Let me be very clear, If you ever see or hear any information that you might feel is of a threatening nature to our campus, you are to direct yourself to one of our staff members, your parent or law enforcement, NOT SOCIAL MEDIA! Asking or posting questions/information on social media will not help to keep our campus safe. Additionally, any student who is discovered to make false threats or spread false rumors about the safety of our campus will be dealt with swiftly according to our discipline policies and the law. Be responsible, have Spartan Pride!
Looking forward to another great week at the Home of Champions!
Go Spartans!

Message from Superintendent Dr. Aguirre
Greetings Sweetwater District Staff and Families:
As you may be aware, this week there were multiple misinformation reports regarding on-campus threats across a number of school campuses within the Sweetwater District. Our district is focused on the health and safety of our students and staff. Whenever these incidents are reported we immediately communicate and coordinate with the appropriate law enforcement agency, and each case is fully investigated.
In an effort to maintain safety and order across all of our campuses, we would respectfully request that when rumors of such threats occur, please do not rush to pick up your child from school, as this distracts staff and law enforcement from investigating and responding to the situation at hand.
We would also ask that we remind our children about responsible use of social media platforms. These platforms are a tool that can both a positive and negative impact to our community. If a student is aware of a threat we ask that those be reported through the P3 Tips line application that is included in district-provided student devices, contact law enforcement, or bring it to the attention of school staff. We ask that all students, staff, parents, and community members be responsible stewards of information circulating in our community.
For your reference, a PBS News article was written about false alarm school threats and the triggering effects on students and families across the nation. I invite you to view the news story here:
Our school district, law enforcement, and school administration continue to remind the community of the importance of working together to ensure factual information is always reported. We appreciate the care and concern for the Sweetwater District community in continuing to keep our communities safe.
Sincerely,
Moisés
Moisés G. Aguirre, Ed.D.
