The Time to BUY a Yearbook is NOW

Pre-ordering a yearbook is the best method to guarantee your student will receive one this year, since the yearbook staff uses pre-order sales to determine how many to have printed. The yearbook staff will have a small number printed for those who choose to purchase in May, but quantities will be limited and the cost of the yearbook will be at its most expensive - $50.

To order your student a yearbook now, you can go to www.balfour.com and choose "Tison Middle School". If you would rather pay by cash or check, you can pick up an application at the Tison front office or just email the yearbook sponsor, Leslie Fenton (lfenton@weatherfordisd.com), for instructions.

Proper hygiene is important to remain healthy!

Always remember to:

  1. Carefully wash hands before and after changing diapers, using the toilet, eating, preparing food, and handling animals.
  2. Ensure that small children are washing hands after using the toilet.
  3. Regularly disinfect surfaces like doorknobs, countertops, and other high-touch items.

Children and staff with vomiting, fever, or diarrhea should not attend school, childcare, or public activities until 24 hours after symptoms resolve without medication.

Let’s wash those hands and stay well!

La higiene es importante para mantenerse saludable.

Siempre recuerde:

KAJEETS -- Mobile hotspot devices now available for checkout

Tison currently has 4 Kajeets for students to check out! Kajeets are mobile hotspots for students who might not have internet access outside of school to work on their school assignments.

They are easy to use, go through the WISD district filter, and each has 0.5 GB of data available on a daily basis. If you have a student that needs internet access to complete a project or any other educational related task, please email Leah Greer (lgreer@weatherfordisd.com) for more details.

Tison Students have access to E-BOOKS through the Tison Library

Is your student interested in reading e-books on his or her device? If so, the Tison Library offers all Tison students access to hundreds of e-books and digital audiobooks that can be downloaded free to a device. To access the digital collection:

  1. Download the free APP, Destiny Discover (it will look like the picture at left)
  2. Open the APP and set the location (you will only need to do this one time) to Texas and Tison Middle School Library.
  3. Log in using the same username & password your student uses to log in to a desktop computer at school. Most students have a firstname.lastname style of username.
  4. Once logged in, students can just explore the library collection. This app syncs the entire library catalog so it not only allows students to access the digital collection, but they can also search for physical books and place holds on them.
  5. To download any of the digital books (e-books & digital audiobooks), just check it out then click on "bookbag" in the top right corner and choose "checkouts". Click to open the book just checked out and then choose the cloud icon at the top to download (digital audiobooks automatically download when opened).

Once downloaded, the book will stay on a device for three weeks then it will expire and return to the collection. Students may also return them early (just click the cloud icon to return it) so that they can get more digital books. Students are allowed to checkout up to five digital books at a time.

If you have any questions, please email Leah Greer (lgreer@weatherfordisd.com).

The Tison Library would like to take a bus of Tison students to the North Texas Teen Book Festival! This is a free event for all teenagers (and adults) in north Texas with a PASSION for YA (Young Adult) books. This is a chance for Tison students to interact with other students across the region who share their love for reading YA books, to meet the authors of some of their favorite books, and to discover other amazing authors and books! There will be over 80 authors attending, including R.L. Stine and Veronica Roth (Divergent series).

Further details and a permission form are forthcoming. If you have any questions, please email Leah Greer (lgreer@weatherfordisd.com). Also go to http://www.northtexasteenbookfestival.com/ for more details about NTTBF.

Students who are also participating in the Tison Library Reading Challenge may use this event for Challenge #4 "Visit a museum or cultural center you've never visited before".

Rachel Speegle, 7th Grader

Rachel has been nominated by Coach Light to be recognized in the Tison newsletter! Here are Coach Light's comments:

"Rachel is outgoing and ready to defend her answers. Whether it's reading a book or arguing her point, Rachel explains things extremely well. She is also a part of an awesome lunch crew!"

In order to get to know Rachel a little better, she completed a simple survey and below are her answers:
