The Husky Update January 15, 2020
Information for our Highline Community Elementary School
From Principal Sanchez-Hart
Hello Highline Families,
This week we are celebrating being back at school with Spirit Week! Please see the schedule of events below. Our Student Council, along with Mrs. Alley, Mr. Boyd, and Mrs. Harrell, sprayed washable hair colors for a $1 dollar before school Tuesday morning. The team earned $200 dollars, which will go towards playground equipment!
This month we had a great parent turn out for our Coffee with the Principal. It was helpful to have parents share their experiences here at Highline with each other. Questions about our school and ideas you would like to share are always welcome. Our next one will be Thursday, February 13th from 8:00-9:00 am.
This week you will be receiving information about our Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) Legacy Day. Members of our equity team will be hosting equity teams from four other schools for our Student Voice Panel on Monday, January 27, 2020. We have designed questions to ask our students about their thoughts and experiences with regard to Rigor, Relationships, and Engagement here at Highline. The insights and ideas will be used to help our school continue our CRE work as well as to invigorate the learning experience for ALL of our students.
Lastly, here is a quick list of events for this week and next:
· Thursday, January 16 – Cuddle Up & Read Literacy Event
· ACCESS Testing Begins on Tuesday, January 14 for all of our English Language Learners.
· Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 20, 2020
As always, it is an honor to serve our Highline Families. Until we next meet, have a great week!
