Hi Glover Families!
Best,

What are Mutli Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)?
What is MTSS?
MTSS standards for Multi Tiered systems of support. This involves looking at data and supporting students' academic and social emotional needs.
What are the Tiers of Support, and what does each mean?
There are three tiers of support
Tier 1: This is the instruction that every student has through general education. For example, our Wit and Wisdom ELA Curriculum and Illustrative Math Curriculum are examples of Tier 1 support. Every child at Glover has access to this curriculum. Socially and emotionally, every student has access to a morning meeting to start the day and help students feel more comfortable and ready to learn. Each student also learns about the Zones of Regulations and calming strategies through counselor run classroom lessons. Students also have access to our Second Step Social Emotional lessons taught weekly by teachers. Primary students also rotate through lunch groups working with peers and getting to know our school adjustment counselors. We know that all students need to feel safe and supported before they can learn.
Tier 2: These supports are provided in addition to the supports already provided within the classroom.(What some students need) They are based on individual student data and instructional level. This could be a reading intervention group or a small math group to target a skill. Students move in and out of these groups based on a data identified area of need. This is also part of regular education. Socially and emotionally, this could be short term participation in a focused social skills group check ins, short term counseling with a school adjustment counselor.
Tier 3: This is the most focused and intensive support. (What a few students need) Support is explicitly taught and may be individual or small groups based. This type of support takes place outside of the regular education classroom. For example, some students may require specialized reading support from an inclusion teacher.Note's From Nurse Marietta
As we start to see an increase in respiratory illness, I wanted to reach out with some helpful information related to Covid 19. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has set forth the following guidance:
Day 0: Date symptoms started or date of positive test
Day 1-5: Days to remain out of school and in isolation
Day 6-10: May return to school provided symptoms are improving and the individual has been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication. The individual should wear a well fitted mask during this time. (If an individual has a negative test result anytime between day 5-10, they do not have to mask)
As always, the best way to protect yourself from any illness is good hand hygiene. Please remind your child of how to wash their hands and of the most important times to do so.
Please reach out to your school nurse with any questions or concerns.

Volunteering at Glover
We welcome parent volunteers at Glover. The requirements for chaperoning field trips and for volunteering in the classroom include having a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and Fingerprinting.
The CORI process is a multi step process:
1. The potential volunteer goes to the DISTRICT WEBSITE to begin the process of requesting a background check and makes an appt. for fingerprints if applicable.
2. Click on and complete the 2 page Google Form below.
3. The potential volunteer submits the application with a copy of a valid license.
4. Then the submission for the CORI occurs
5. The CORI approval can then take some time to be approved (this time varies)
If potential volunteers and district administrators are able to respond promptly and fingerprinting appointments are completed in a timely manner, the process takes about 3 weeks. That said, if there is a delay in any one of these steps, it can take longer. So if parents are interested in volunteering or chaperoning any time this year, it would be wise to go through the CORI process as soon as possible.
**CORI is good for 3 years. Some of our third grade parents who have been volunteering, and are interested in volunteering this year, and may need to be updated.
