The DCMS Bat Signal: 2/25/2020
Super me, super you, everyday heroes make dreams come true.
We have another busy week this week with our Department Meetings on Thursday morning. Your department heads will be asking you to print a few reports from NWEA to take with you to the meeting. You will complete a few eye-opening data dive activities among other department activities.
I am excited to see how your work during PLC time is evolving. Your focus on the 4 questions is becoming evident. I am seeing some excellent formative assessments, hearing some very focused conversations, and loving that you are clarifying the intent of the standards. Rigorous dialogue is a good thing and means that you are hashing out best practices. I love that you are owning your students and have made the shift from, "I taught it" to "I know they have learned it!" Go Team! Keep driving the process.

"After synthesizing over 800 meta-analyses on the factors that impact student achievement, John Hattie concluded that the best way to improve schools was to organize teachers into collaborative teams that clarify what each student must learn and the indicators of learning the team will track, to gather evidence of that learning on an ongoing basis, and to analyze the results together so that they could learn which instructional strategies were working and which were not."

Kick It Up a Notch - Make GOAL Study Hall/Character Ed Time More Productive
We would like to see study hall Goal teachers checking students’ grades at least once a week. This can easily be done by meeting individually with a quarter of the class each day Monday-Thursday. Only students who have a grade of C or better should be working on other things besides homework or study materials. When missing assignments are discovered, require the students to complete them.
Warrior Bingo: Break Up the March Monotony!
Turn in completed bingo cards to Marsha's mailbox. Tisha will be placing earned jeans coupons in your mailboxes. Redeem the coupons by turning them into the jar near Tisha's work station.
